Course Description:

This program comprises of 8 modules offered at TFA plus a final collection. Throughout the year, students will learn all the processes used in various types of garment making. Through mentoring and guidance, students will end their diplomas with a final collection which will be showcased to potential employers and stockists.

This one year program provides the student with the necessary skills to start up a proper fashion business in aspects such as fashion design for womenswear, pattern making and bridalwear. It gives a broad spectrum of learning so graduates of this course are:

*Able to specialize in  womenswear apparel for casual wear, tailoring, occasion wear and bridal wear.

*Automatically equipped with the ability to launch a business anywhere in the world and create wealth.

*Able to pursue a degree in a higher institution abroad with their developed portfolio and letter of recommendation from the academy.

*Able to gain employment in fashion businesses and organizations across the nation and internationally.

Fashion Branding

Course Description:

Noticing how we few Nigerian brands haven’t really gotten global recognition, this course is tailored to address the obstacles faced by present fashion brands and how to overcome them.

Prerequisite:

Fluent in speaking and understanding English

Basic knowledge of what the fashion industry entails

Learning outcome:

Flat Pattern Making

Course Description:

The pattern making course is designed for those who want to learn professional at pattern making/cutting.

It is an internationally used method and allows you to understand the science and mathematics of cutting. We call it the architecture of fashion! The creative who looks to explore how it all works and is not afraid of technical drawing and some mathematics will enjoy this process. For those coming from a freehand background, this course proves to answer a lot of questions you have had for years! It also teaches you how standard sizes are created.

Prerequisite:

Basic sewing skills are required. Math skills and an eye for detail plus a keen interest in this method of cutting is important.

Learning outcome:

1. How to use and make your own standard block for target market and customized slopers for bespoke garment making.

2. How to convert blocks to patterns.

3. Dart manipulation and adaptation of various styles.

4. Various sleeve adaptations.

5. A project consisting of 4 finished outfits.

 

Professional Sewing Techniques

Course Description:

This is a sewing course that focuses on intermediate level sewing techniques. It is for those who can sew but need to enhance their skills to a more professional level.

Finishing techniques used in tailored garments are the main focus, from full lining used in suiting to cuffs, pockets and various collars and openings to types of zip nishing. This sewing course shows you the way to make your garments look clean and high end.

You must have basic sewing skills to take this course.

Learning outcome:

1. How to use and manage troubleshooting on an industrial straight sewing machine.

2. How to properly and professionally assemble a garment.

3. Understand different types of interfacing and uses.

4. How to affix various collars on a garment.

5. How to insert various types of classic pockets and zippers.

6. Placket openings and more.

 

Fashion Business

Course Description:

This course focuses on equipping students on the fundamentals and necessary tools of running their fashion business effectively in not just a local setting but also setting foundations that will lead them to become major players in the International world.

Fashion  Illustration

Course description :

The Fashion  Illustration course is ideal for Beginners as well as experienced students with a keen interest in developing their creative ideas through research, design, and development. On this course students will be taught how to use inspiration and drawing techniques to communicate their design ideas to potential clients. You will learn the process and techniques used to achieve original work. Students will learn how to use different rendering techniques to create the impression of a design in a more artistic style.

Prerequisite:
This course is ideal for both beginners and experienced creatives with no prior knowledge of design or drawing, and also ideal for those who wish to develop condence in this area. Students however must be able to carry out research, tasks, exercises and assignments given.

Learning outcome:

  1. How to use the colour palette for illustration.
  2. How to explore a range of mixed media and tools.
  3. How to draw the Fashion figure.
  4. Drawing from reference.
  5. How to draw fabrics, drapes, and patterns.
  6. How to draw fabric flow and movement.
  7. Developing and communicating a personal illustration style.
  8. To carry out and compile research to build designs and collections.

 

Digital Illustration

Digital Fashion Illustration is ideal for people with some drawing experience. On this course students will be taught how to illustrate digitally, You will learn the process and techniques used to achieve original work. Students will learn how to use different rendering techniques to create the impression of a design in a more artistic style digitally.

Drawing of more fliud poses

Drawing and creating styles from inspiration and themes. Understanding and creation of mood board creation and collections.

 

Bridalwear

Course Description:

Our bridal course at TFA is created for those interested in focusing on the techniques used to create bridalwear. If you are interested in taking your skills to an advanced level, and bridalwear or red carpet dresses are your main areas of interest as a designer, fashion student or employee, then this course is for you. Do you want your dresses to look like those bought from high end designer brands Internationally? This course raises the quality and confidence of your work. With your creativity and keen eye for detail you will learn how to achieve outstanding work.

This course is an advanced course that requires Pattern making skills, strong sewing skills and professional sewing techniques. The use of an industrial straight sewing machine is also required. You will need to bring your design option with flat drawings on day 1.

Learning outcome:

1.Draping:

Draping on a stand is a pattern making method where designs are created on the dress form and then transferred onto paper to make a pattern. his method allows you to see your designs in a 3 dimensional form as you create.

It takes the math out of pattern making and allows you a more creative process.

-How to make a basic block or sloper using a dressform.

-How to make a strapless bodice using draping.

-How to create patterns from draping 3D ruching and pleating.

2. Bridalwear sewing techniques; 

-How to create a strapless bustier using boning, a hidden bra and proper interlining and support methods.

- How to use lace and appliqué for surface decoration.

- Ruching and pleating techniques

- Corseted Closures

- Veil concepts

3. Complete step by step process to assemble a full bridal dress

By the end of this course you will be confident in producing a beautifully finished bridal dress

with any intricate details of design on the outside and neatly finished on the inside.

As a final project at the end of FASHIONPRENEUR 1YEAR, Students will create and produce a collection of 5 looks to present. This collection must represent their brand personality and business specialty they choose to pursue.

 

Pattern Making (Final project)

Using skills learnt through the duration of one year program students will create patterns for a minimum of five outfits as their final collection.
